Community garden ready for planters
STAFF REPORT | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 13 years AGO
ROYAL CITY - Royal City's community garden is ready for gardeners. Each lot has been rototilled.
Wood chips are ready to be placed on walkways over landscape fabric. Royal Organics will deliver mulch to amend the soil, weeds have been sprayed, and gravel covers the parking area.
"Now we need gardeners," emphasized coordinator Sharon Chesterman. "For $20 anyone can garden on one of the 12-foot-by-12-foot lots."
Each lot is watered by a timed drip system.
Chesterman encourages interested community members to drive by the garden, located off of Wildflower Street, south of Royal School District's bus barn.
If you'd like to reserve a lot, call Chesterman at 346-9482 or pick up a garden flier and fill out the reservation form and mail it. Fliers are available at city hall, the city library and U.S. Bank.
The next Community Garden meeting will be Monday, May 7, at 3:30 p.m. at Royal High School Greenhouse. Everyone is welcome.
