The Coeur d'Alene Symphony is announcing its new season.

It is moving to the Salvation Army Kroc Center to give its audience a choice of performances for each concert.

The subscription series opens Oct. 12 and 13 with a tribute to Scotland, featuring the concertmaster, Dr. Phil Baldwin, performing the Scottish Fantasy by Bruch. The orchestra will also play Mendelssohn's Scottish Symphony and Arnold's Four Scottish Dances.

Performances are Friday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. or Saturday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m.

On Dec. 8, the Symphony will present "Amahl and the Night Visitors," a beautiful Christmas story set to music with singers, dancers, orchestra and a magic box! Choose the 2 p.m. or 7 p.m. performance of this opera in one act by Menotti.

On March 8 and 9, 2013, the Coeur d'Alene Symphony hosts the National Young Artist Competition Winners. Young virtuosos from across the country will perform with the Symphony.

The Season Finale features a world premier Jazz Concerto No. 2 for Piano and Orchestra by BrentEdstrom and the monumental Symphony No. 3 (the Eroica) by Beethoven.

In addition to the regular series, the Symphony is joined by the Northwest Sacred Music Chorale and St. George's Choir for its traditional "Messiah Sing Along," on Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. at Lake City Community Church.

The Black & White Ball is getting a facelift this year, more music and less eating! Be sure to save Jan. 19, 2013, on your calendar. All six events are packaged in the "Big Bang for your Bucks Deal" $100 for all six until May 31.

Season Tickets (4 subscription concerts): $65 adults, $50 seniors, $32 youth and students with ID.

Tickets are available from the Symphony Office 765-3833 or online at www.cdasymphony.org.
