MOSES LAKE - Residents are invited to help clean the main streets for summer on Saturday, with participants meeting at 8 a.m. at the Surf 'n Slide water park, at 401 S Fourth Ave., Moses Lake.
The crews will concentrate on the main streets of the city, said Bev Shuford, chair of the beautification committee for Vision 20/20, which sponsors the cleanup.
The Moses Lake Business Association will focus on the Laketown Landing area, with volunteers meeting at 6 a.m. at Kentucky Fried Chicken, at 411 E Third Ave. Business association executive director Marianne Kirwan said the crews will be picking up trash from Broadway Avenue to Fifth Avenue and from Pioneer Avenue to Dogwood Avenue.
"We've been doing this long enough that we know which areas really need to be cleaned," Shuford said. Broadway and Division streets will be among the focus areas for the Vision 20/20 crews, she said.
Both Shuford and Kirwan said they are seeking additional volunteers. People can "just show up" on Saturday and go to work, Shuford said.
Trash bags and safety vests will be furnished, but "you want to make sure you bring your gloves," Shuford said.
Volunteers will be assigned to cleanup areas, with maps furnished, she said.
Michael's On The Lake will provide lunch beginning at about 11 a.m., Shuford said.
Lakeside Disposal will furnish a truck to dispose of the collected junk, she said.
