Seventeen students from Flathead FFA competed against 1,700 other high school students at the State FFA Convention in Bozeman.

Students tested their knowledge and skills in a variety of agricultural and leadership competitions in March.

Flathead FFA took second place in both Parliamentary Procedure (Jordan Robins, Bekah Allen, Meghan Floyd, Daniel Frownfelter, Kylee Gibson and Jessica Helder) and Agronomy (Alana Townsend, Amber Wiebe, Carter Krantz and Sarah Thompson).

The Farm Business Management team (Amber Wiebe, Daniel Frownfelter, Alana Townsend and Sarah Thompson) took third place. Wiebe took second place as an individual.

Member Carter Krantz was the state proficiency winner in Diversified Livestock Production Entrepreneurship. This category is part of the Supervised Agricultural Experience work-based learning program. Krantz received $250, and his application will represent Montana at the national level.

Flathead FFA was also given the National Chapter Award in recognition of being a top chapter in the state. It will represent Montana at the national level.

Flathead FFA has earned national level recognition in this category 68 times since 1942.

Several Flathead FFA members were recipients of the State FFA Degree, which is awarded to top members of a state FFA association. Recipients must meet requirements that show their dedication, community service, academics, leadership and work experience.

Daniel Frownfelter, Jordan Robins, Alana Townsend, Tyler Burnett and Paige Glazier all earned the degree.

The following awards were given for chapter officer books: Bekah Allen, first place Secretary Book; Tyler Burnett, third place Treasurer Book; Alana Townsend first place Scrapbook and Alana Townsend first place Reporter’s Event.

Students will be recognized along with other FFA accomplishments at the annual FFA Awards Banquet starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the H.E. Robinson Vo-Ag Center.
