Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 12 years, 8 months AGO
Clarence Karl Henschel, 84, passed away peacefully May 2, 2012, in Coeur d’Alene. He was born in Edmonton, Canada, Aug. 27, 1927, to Karl and Susan Henschel. There he was raised with his six sisters, Erna, Lora, Ruth, Amanda, Clara and Theresa; and three brothers, Jerry, Alfred and Norman. He grew up farming which was his passion and hobby.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen of 61 years and his two sons, Robert (“Whitey”) and Terry.
Health concerns moved the family to the states where he became a U.S. citizen in 1961. Farming never left his blood. Clarence worked in the Retail Industry primarily as a produce manager. He had many hobbies including playing sports with their boys, being a Deacon in his church, gardening, wood work, horseshoes, fishing and baseball. A new adventure started when Whitey married Sandy and Terry married Cheri and he became an “opa” or grandpa to four beautiful grandchildren, Sean, Matthew, Renee and Danielle. His smile and giving heart will be missed by many.
Memorial service will to held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1700 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Coeur d’Alene.
At the family’s request in lieu of flowers donations may be made in Clarence’s name to “By The Lakes Assisted Living Care Home” in Hayden and/or “Hospice House of North Idaho” on Prairie Avenue. The family extends much love and gratitude to both facilities for their love and care.
