PLUMMER - Chief J. Allan was again re-elected to the Tribal Council, receiving the most votes of any candidate in the weekend election.

Coeur d'Alene tribal members cast their votes to fill three open Coeur d'Alene Tribal Council positions.

First elected to the Council in 2003, this will be Allan's fourth consecutive three-year term.

"I am so honored and humbled to be able to serve my people and my tribe for another three years. More work lies ahead for us but I am grateful to be a part of our will to govern ourselves and determine our own destiny," Allan said.

The tribal voters also elected Donald E. Sczenski and Leta L. Campbell to fill the other two open seats. Leta Campbell has previously served two terms on the Tribal Council and is looking forward to serving the Tribe once again. Campbell works for the Benewah Medical Center as the director of Contract Health Services. Donald Sczenski is a local business owner. This will be his first term on the council.

In Monday's swearing-in ceremony at the Rose Creek Longhouse in Worley, the seven-member council unanimously re-elected Allan to another year as the chairman of the Tribe, a position he has held since 2005.

"It is truly a privilege to serve my people and this council as chairman. I promise to continue to work hard and give the best that I am able to give," said Allan.

Ernie Stensgar will retain the position of vice chairman of the Tribal Council and John Abraham will serve as the Tribal Council's secretary.

The seven seats on the Coeur d'Alene Tribal Council are staggered, with each council member serving a three-year term. In this year's election, 10 individuals ran for the three open positions. The candidates receiving the highest number of votes were elected to council. On the Monday following each year's election, the council votes to select a chairman, vice chairman and secretary/treasurer.
