Royal tracksters ready for sub-district

ROYAL CITY - The Royal High School track and field team has had a great season so far, according to coach Scott Sandberg. as it prepares for the sub-district meet Thursday evening at Wahluke.
Several athletes have produced great performances throughout the season, such as Tonya Iverson with a season high jump just one-fourth of an inch below the school record of 16-7 ?.
Laddie Goraski has had an impressive season, breaking his own school record in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.05. Jesus Peraza had an outstanding performance in the two-mile, shaving 13 seconds off his personal record to 10:51.
The boys 4x400 relay team, consisting of Laddie Goraski, Brian Edeza, Christian Fernandez, Freddy Ramirez and Juan Jimenez, is ranked third in district and ninth in the state.
Mariana Alvarez, doing the pole vault for the first time, has had a personal best of 7-6, which is ranked first in the league and second in the district.
The girls 800 meter has been extremely competitive this year, with Cynthia Cid and Brea Diaz vying for state berths with times in the low 2:40s.
