WHITEFISH — An inspired fourth quarter brought new life to the never-saydie 10Sticks Lacrosse squad Sunday afternoon in Whitefish.
Down 4-0 going into the fourth, the 10Sticks offense came alive in the final stanza where a string of goals by Tim Fitzpatrick, Zach Schmidt, Jarod Plant (with two) and Ambrose Brown shot the game into sudden-death overtime. Despite the swing in momentum, Flathead-Whitefish pulled out the 5-4 win after a goal by David Rizzolo put the game away with two minutes left in the overtime period.

“We started off flat,” coach Alex Alviar said. “Although our guys are tough and can rally back from the dead, they tend to play down to other teams’ levels — teams we can beat and have beaten in the past.”
Alviar hopes that as his young players improve fitness and stick skills they will gain confidence, and games like this will be a thing of the past.
“With time, we hope to see more leaders emerge on the field and on the sidelines to get our team tempo more stable so we can consistently play our game and our style of lacrosse, not the other team’s.”
