Charles Gordon Wimpenny (DVM Retired), 86, passed away at Pinewood Care Center in Coeur d’Alene on Wednesday, May 9, 2012.

Gordon was born in Pennington, N.J., on Sept. 10, 1925, to Cyril and Marjorie (Fetter) Wimpenny. He grew up in New Jersey with two sisters. During World War II, when Gordon was 17 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served for four years. He moved to the Pullman/Moscow area to attend Veterinary College, then after graduating relocated to Montana where he met Margaret Schaff.

Gordon married Margaret on April 30, 1957, in Coeur d’Alene. After getting married they moved to Rosalia, Wash., where he ran a veterinary clinic for 13 years before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1970 where he continued his veterinary clinic for another 25 years.

Gordon loved the outdoors and spent many years fly fishing for brook trout in Montana.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Wimpenny of Coeur d’Alene; sons, Robert Wimpenny (DDS) of Wyoming and Donald Wimpenny of Post Falls; and step-daughters, Nina Denzin of Helena, Mont., and Alice Bielenberg of Spokane; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, one of Pennsylvania and one of New Jersey. Gordon also had many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Patricia “Patty” Wimpenny.

Memorials may be made to charities of your choosing. At his request, no services will be held.
