Carman to perform Sunday night in Cd'A

One of the most successful Christian singers and entertainers is scheduled to perform Sunday night in Coeur d'Alene.
Carman Domenic Licciardello, known as "Carman," is described as "part evangelist, part Vegas Showman. His concerts were more like a rock and roll Billy Graham Crusade than a Christian music event."
He will be performing at 7 p.m. Sunday at Lake City Lighthouse church, 1583 W. Dalton Ave. He will also be speaking at The Altar Church at 10:30 Sunday morning.
Ken Smith, pastor of Lake City Lighthouse church, chuckled that a man who has performed before 80,000 people will be at the small Coeur d'Alene church with seating for 150.
"When they first called, I thought it was pretty humorous," he said.
Smith believes Carman's visit is a blessing.
"We think it's a great ministry opportunity for Coeur d'Alene," he said. "There's not a bad seat in the house," he added, laughing.
He said it will get people talking about the Lord, and "get a little fire burning in the Christian community."
"Carman has a way of stirring the embers," he said.
Carman has received 15 gold and platinum albums and videos and has sold more than 10 million records. He holds other attendance records for the largest solo Christian concerts in history with: 80,000 outdoors in Charlotte, N.C., and 50,000 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
He had the longest No. 1 record on Billboard CCM sales chart at 33 weeks. His "Champion" record stayed on the Billboard overall sales charts for a record 168 weeks. Carman has also written songs for several motion pictures including "The Prince of Egypt" and the documentary "Jesus Camp."
Carman had the largest TV audience for any solo Christian Music event on Halloween in 1999 which produced the largest alter call ever - more than 70,000 people committing their lives to Christ.
The past few years he's written several new screenplays, acted, had many live concerts, various TV productions including "Time 2" and "Reality Check" series.
