LDS divides to form additional new Ward
The Coeur d'Alene 1st Ward and Coeur d'Alene 2nd Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were divided to form an additional new Ward: Coeur d'Alene 3rd Ward. Boundaries were adjusted and 2 new Bishoprics were called.
Tyler S. Morton was called to serve as the new Bishop of the Coeur d'Alene 1st Ward. Bishop Morton's 1st counselor is Mark Thompson. Laurence D. McArthur was called as 2nd Counselor.
Dan Bell is the Ward Executive Secretary and Paul Mortensen is the Ward Clerk.
Ken McGuire has been called to serve as Bishop of the newly formed Coeur d'Alene 3rd Ward.
The Ward Executive Secretary is Jim Geren and the Ward Clerk is Gene Zeckser.
Richard Bennett was called as 1st Counselor.
Bishop McGuire's 2nd Counselor is Leonard P. FitzSimmons.
Congregations are organized geographically which enables members to attend worship services near their home. A Ward consists of about 400-600 people. When a ward grows to a certain size it will be divided. Generally if the geographic divisions are in a reasonable distance of the meetinghouse, they will meet at the same building but at different times as in this case.
Most ward buildings are designed to house up to three or four wards. The only changes made to Coeur d'Alene 2nd Ward is a smaller geographic area. They meet at 9 a.m. Coeur d'Alene 1st Ward meets at 11 a.m. and Coeur d'Alene 3rd Ward meets at 1 p.m. each Sunday at 2801 N. Fourth Street in Coeur d'Alene.
