ODE TO MOMS ON THEIR DAY
Moms deserve all the bouquets and gifting.
'Cuz when it comes to reproduction,
they do the heavy lifting.
Sure, guys play a role; (think: "Live ammo in the starter's gun.")
then repair to the sidelines
while the REAL race is run.
Please, lean back and relax with minimal distractions,
and count all your blessings,
instead of contractions.
So enjoy this day, Moms,
midst the fruit of your labors,
and savor the smiles
of your like-minded neighbors.

AN OCEAN WAVE
By Penny Anderson, Post Falls
One day while sitting on the warm sand, looking a mile out to sea, I watched an ocean wave coming in to me. As it rolled in closer, being pushed by the oceans nervous floor, it looked like it was bringing a whisper of a promise, as it neared my shore. In my trance like stare, I saw it roll and tumble rushing in like a child at play, and I said, "Please don't go away, stay." It's crescendoing beauty engulfed my soul and I listened even harder to nature's musical beat. I jumped to my feet just in time to see my beautiful wave crash into frothy foam on the beach. I felt betrayed as I saw it soak slowly into the warm sand. I realized my love affair was not over, as I saw the next wave flirting with me.
