Inez L. Libby, 89, passed away May 10, 2012, at her home in Coeur d’Alene following an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 4, 1922, in Malta, Mont., and moved to Coeur d’Alene where she lived with her parents, Lydia and Thomas Hagen in the same house where she died.
She married Amos Libby, Sept. 22, 1940, in Coeur d’Alene. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Amos who died in November 2007.
Inez graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1940 where she played basketball. From 1948-1950, she played basketball on a community team in Tekoa, Wash. She later attended North Idaho College and worked as a medical office receptionist and office manager for more than 30 years.
She was active in PTA, Camp Fire Girls, Cub Scouts and supported her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all of their many activities. Fishing, gardening and traveling with her husband, family and friends were some of her favorite activities following her retirement.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Bill Drake of Coeur d’Alene; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Jana Libby of Astoria, Ore.; grandchildren, Bill Drake and his wife Joy, Jeff Drake and Sara Libby; and great-grandchildren, Emily and Austin Drake.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene. The family suggests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Coeur d’Alene Public Library.
