MOSES LAKE - Two people were arrested for drug possession and a stolen vehicle the night of May 2 after a vigilant citizen reported suspicious people in his neighborhood near Moses Lake.

At around 9:30 p.m. Grant County Sheriff's Deputies received a call from a citizen reporting suspicious vehicles and people in the 10000 block of Dune Lake Loop Southeast. The citizen feared the people were stealing machinery from his neighbor's property.

Three deputies arrived a short time later and found four men loading metal scrap onto a flatbed trailer towed by a pickup truck. The headlights from a nearby Nissan 4-door were providing lighting onto the trailer.

Deputies discovered the pickup truck was registered as stolen. Deputies then found two of the men had drugs in their possession.

Daniel Charpentier, 26, of Moses Lake, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle; third-degree theft; and possession of methamphetamine.

Kyle Phillips, 26, of Moses Lake, was arrested on suspicion of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver marijuana; possession of forty grams or less of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Charpentier and Phillips were lodged in the Grant County Jail. Two other men at the scene were detained, questioned, and released.
