Candidates speak
Two Republican candidates for Montana Attorney General, Tim Fox of Helena and Jim Shockley of Victor, will speak at the Glacier Pachyderm Club’s luncheon at the Hilton Garden Hotel in Kalispell on Friday, May 18, from noon to 1 p.m. They will also take questions from the floor as time permits. Motorcycle show
The second annual S.M.E.G. Motorcycle Show will be held at the Flathead County Fairgrounds Expo Building on Saturday, May 19, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. with fabulous custom motorcycles. Fairview eventTraditional Memorial Day service will be held in the chapel at Fairview Cemetery, Monday, May 28. The public is invited to attend the observance at 2 p.m. Kelly Hartman will be speaker and soloist. Flags will be placed on graves of veterans with service dates back to the Civil War. Merkel goodbye
The Columbia Falls United Methodist Church will have an open house for outgoing pastor David Merkel on May 31 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the church. Merkel is leaving the congregation to serve a church in Billings.

The Flathead Chapter of the Montana Native Plant Society will present a talk by Laura Law on tips, tricks and inexpensive ways to add native plants to landscaping at Glacier Discovery Square on Wednesday, May 16, at 7 p.m. Law will also show her home garden.

A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.
