Jodie Coston is heading up a yarnbombing project at Camas Creek Yarn in Kalispell.

In June, knitted and crocheted pieces will be used to “yarnbomb” the Hockaday Museum of Art — cover trees, light poles and whatever else is exposed outside with hand-crafted yarn projects. The number of objects that will get covered in yarn “depends on how much knitted stuff we get,” Coston said. “We want as much as possible.”

She plans to install the project the week of June 10. Before that, knitters and crocheters have opportunities to contribute to the project.

Patterns and information are available at Camas Creek Yarn, 338 Main St., Kalispell — but following a pattern isn’t necessary, Coston said.

“I will take absolutely anything, if someone wants to crochet a flower or two or if they have an old knitted scarf they don’t wear any more,” she said.

Coston will also offer group knitting and crocheting sessions for the project at the store.

Sessions will be offered at the following times:

• May 21 — 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m.

• June 4 — 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m.

• June 11 — 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m.

Finished squares must be turned in at Camas Creek or the Hockaday by June 11.
