For years, the Coeur d'Alene Casino has been known for its "House of Fury" boxing cards.

If everything goes well on Thursday night, they could be getting some company in the professional fighting arena.

FIGHTERS FROM the area will collide in Worley as the King of the Cage Inc. mixed martial arts fighting promotion makes its debut starting at 7 p.m.

The main event of the 11-fight card includes former North Idaho College wrestler Trevor Prangley taking on George Stork in a non-title match at 202 pounds.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with the first of four amateur fights at 7.

All fights are scheduled for three five-minute rounds.

"This will be the first time for something like this at the casino in a long time," fight promoter Kevin Martin said.

Martin worked alongside Prangley during the North Idaho Fight Night at North Idaho College last fall, and is also a co-manager of the AKA Gym in Coeur d'Alene with Prangley.

"This is the first time we've worked with the King of the Cage," Martin said. "But they've come in and really support this."

As of Tuesday, 900 tickets for the 1,500-seat venue have been sold.

The fights at NIC were funded completely by Martin and Prangely. They will work with promotions for King of the Cage.

"The big thing for us is that they've really gotten a lot of support," Martin said. "They've got the ability to put the fights into 72 million homes and are strictly financed by them.

Thursday's event will also mark the professional debut of Coeur d'Alene native Jordan Cook.

"He really exceeded our expectations as an amateur," Martin said.

Cook will face Jacob Harkness in a 155-pound fight.

"Harkness is a really strong wrestler," Martin said. "This is going to be a strong technical fight."

OTHER FIGHTS will include Lyle "Fancy Pants" Beerbohm against Chris Ensley of Oregon, as well as Elisha Velsper taking on Sallon Fox in the women's bout.

“Elisha was in Strikeforce and then left to do a tour in Iraq,” Martin said. “She decided once she got back that she wanted to get back into it and resumed training in September.”

Spokane native Will Noland, who trains in Coeur d’Alene with Prangley, will take on Jordan Currie on the main card.

Rounding out the undercard is Joseph Cleveland vs. Nathan Gow; Jordan Mackin vs. Logan Smith; Will Comstock vs. Adam Smith; Dustin Hardisty vs. Sam Rykken and Josh Gow vs. Austin Arnett.

Should the event be a success, the promotion may return more often.

“We’re really hoping this can be a success,” Martin said. “Right now, they’re looking at holding 3 to 4 more fights at the casino.”

Tickets are available at ticketswest.com or at the door.

The fights will also be available on DirecTV and Dish Network later this week.
