Bill passed away at home May 11, 2012, in Victorville, Calif., after a short illness. He was born March 12, 1926, in Farmington, Wash., to William W. and Eva Redmond. They moved to Coeur d’Alene when Bill was 8 and he graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1944. He served in the Army Air Force for the duration of the war.

His family owned and operated Redmond’s Thrift IGA grocery store in Coeur d’Alene for many years, introducing many innovations in the food prep industry to North Idaho that were later used by the larger supermarkets.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Pat) Janusch.

He is survived by his second wife, Cory of Victorville; son Kim Redmond of Thorne Bay, Alaska; daughter Janet Lyden of Albuquerque, N.M.; six step-daughters and two step-sons; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother Dean Redmond (Rita); sister Eileen Russell; numerous other relatives and many friends in the Coeur d’Alene area.

Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Coeur d’Alene Trap and Skeet Club for many years.

No services will be held (per Bill’s request). After cremation he will join the spirits he loved in the woods of North Idaho and Alaska.
