Agnes Marie Evans (Ame) OBrien, 82

Agnes Marie Evans (Ame) OBrien passed away peacefully on May 13, 2012. Ame was born Jan. 24, 1930, the first of four children born to Glynn and Marie Freuchtl Evans in Wallace.

She graduated from high school in Wallace in 1948 before moving to Coeur d’Alene where she took care for her aging grandfather. She went to work for the USDA Forest Service in Orofino where she met and married her husband William (Bill) John OBrien. They were married for 54 years, until his death on March 24, 2011. They raised four children and lived in a number of locations in North Idaho and western Montana before retiring in Hayden in 2000. While retired, she enjoyed traveling and visiting her children and her grandchildren.

Ame enjoyed playing piano (especially ragtime), swimming, camping, picking huckleberries and cooking. She loved to drive and often travels across much of the country with her four children. She was active in the local TOPS chapters wherever she lived, and she loved to play pinochle whenever a group could be gathered.

Ame was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and is survived by her son, Tim and wife Joann of California; daughter Carolyn and husband Roy Mita of Colorado and granddaughter Kathleen; son Mark and wife Sarah of Nevada and granddaughters Alison and Leslie; and son Bruce and partner Jocelyn Eastham of Montana.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; her brothers and her sister.

Visitation hours will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 17, 2012, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 625 E. Haycraft, Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.
