On May 9, 2012, Mary Suter passed peacefully in Coeur d’Alene at Kootenai Medical Center where the Lord took her soul. She was a devoted Christian and a loving and warm person. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

Mary Doreen Suter was born to Ethel and Richard Simpson in Paddington, England, on July 2, 1921. She was a nurses assistant in World War II where she met her husband of 56 years, Pete Suter. Mary, Pete, and their young son, Martin, traveled back across the Atlantic Ocean to settle in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada. There they began their life together, Pete as a salesman and Mary a housewife. In 1948, Mary gave birth to Carol, in Cranbrook, Canada. In 1961 they immigrated to the US, initially settling in Spokane where Pete owned a small business. In 1967 they moved to Post Falls, and they spent the next 45 years moving between Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene.

Mary will be most remembered as a loving and compassionate Mother, Grandmother, and friend. She is survived by daughter Carol and husband George Carter of Coeur d’Alene; her granddaughters Nicole Perrone of Las Vegas and Stephanie and her husband Adam and great grandson Grant Freeborg of Austin; her sister in law Angie and her husband Bud Brierley and their daughters, Jody Brierley of Spokane and Laura Boyse of Calgary. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Walter Peter Suter, son Martin and grandson Seth.

Family and friends are having a private celebration of life in her honor. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
