Mayor Larkin honors Post Falls youth

POST FALLS - Twelve individual youth and eight groups were nominated for the Post Falls Mayor's Youth Awards program held at Q'emiln Park on Thursday night.
Individual winners included:
* Micah Green, ages 5-7, visited seniors and shut-ins from his church and assisted Ponderosa Elementary students;
* Courtney Finney, ages 8-11, initiated Rachel's Challenge to reduce bullying;
* Joshua Plew, ages 12-14, collected food for Post Falls Food Bank and volunteered at the Spokane School District; and
* Lance Child, ages 15-18, raised funds and organized groups to build tables and seating for the American Legion patio area.
Group winners included:
* Cub Scout Pack 13, ages 5-7, collected food for the food bank and visited Guardian Angel residents;
* Brownie Junior Troop 3008, ages 8-11, donated Girl Scout cookies to the school district's weekend backpack program and cleaned up Q'emiln Park during Post Falls Days;
* Post Falls and River City middle schools' Junior Honor Society, ages 12-14, volunteered at a variety of events and sites; and
* Community Advisory Network - Students Helping the Homeless, ages 15-18, collected items for the homeless.
