The Whitefish Middle School recently added a weight assisted pull up machine to its physical education department.

“It’s a great addition to our P.E. program,” said teacher Scot Ferda.

The Parent Teacher Association and The Wave assisted in purchasing the $3,500 piece of equipment.

“It’s a high quality machine that will last a long time,” principal Kerry Drown said.

Ferda said the machine will help students train to do a pull up on their own. A pull up is one of several physical tests students must complete to test their level of fitness as part of the President’s Challenge Program on fitness.

“This has been really helpful in getting kids to pass the Presidential fitness test,” he said.
