Free summer food program starts June 11

PABLO — Open to Kids Ages 18 and under, the free summer food and Making Fitness Fun programs, sponsored by Salish Kootenai College, will open its doors on June 11.

The program will be at two locations: the SKC Joe McDonald Fitness Center in Pablo and the St. Ignatius Tribal Fitness and Community Center (serving breakfast and lunch Fridays only). The Pablo site will offer free breakfast from 8:30-9:30 a.m. and free lunch 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday until Aug. 23.

SKC will provide physical activities in between breakfast and lunch. Activities include swimming, kickball, football, basketball, dodgeball, native games, volleyball, soccer, shinny and bike riding. Stop in anytime, all summer long.

Monday through Thursday the school will provide transportation to the Ronan Boys and Girls Club and possibly to the Polson Boys and Girls Club around noon, daily. Mondays and Wednesdays there will be Arlee Pick-up at the community center at 8 a.m. and in St. Ignatius at 8:30 a.m. Drop off at SKC will be around 9 a.m. Busses will return to St. Ignatius around 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. to Arlee. Tuesdays and Thursdays, busses will pick up Elmo kids at 8:30 a.m. at the Elmo fitness center and drop them off at SKC Pablo around 9 a.m. Busses will return to Elmo around 12:30 p.m.

Sign-up sheets are at the SKC Fitness Center, all summer long. Children must be at least 7 years old to participate in the physical activities. Breakfast and Lunch open to all youth under 18 years old.
