LIBBY — Zach Personett hit two home runs and Cody Dopps added another as Kalispell Lakers AA pulled out a wild 13-5 victory in eight innings over the Libby Loggers on Wednesday in American Legion baseball play.

Kalispell scored once in the top half of the ninth to tie it, then eight times in the eighth to win it.

It was Dopps’ fifth home run of the season and his second in two games.

“We played really well until the end,” Libby coach Kelly Morford said.

“We didn’t execute a few bunts, made a few errors and it ended up costing us the game. We played pretty solid for eight innings, just didn’t finish off.”

He said Jared Winslow “had another solid game pitching.”

Winslow held Kalispell scoreless in his five innings on the mound. He finished with six strikeouts, one walk and allowed four hits.

Kalispell outhit Libby 16-11. Sean O’Connell was 4-for-6 with two RBIs for the Lakers. He also tripled.

Jake Johnson was 3-for-6 with a double.

Dillon Matteson had the Lakers other double.

Luke Haggerty was 3-for-4 for Libby. Micah Germany and Will Reichel had two hits each.

“We did pretty well at the plate,” Morford said, “but not at the end when it counted.”

Libby plays a Saturday doubleheader at Sandpoint, Idaho.

Up next for Kalispell (11-5) is a weekend trip to Billings for a Memorial Day Tournament.
