Troubles in the business world?

Then the Lake City Playhouse is the place for you.

Really.

"How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" opens tonight. Directed by Andy Renfrew, the musical comedy is described this way:

"What if there was a handbook to help you climb the corporate ladder and tackle dangers such as the company man, the office party, backstabbing co-workers, caffeine addiction and, of course, true love?"

That handbook will be the subject of the popular play settling in for its three-week run.

Music is directed by Carolyn Jess, and choreography is by Ali Waid.

"It's just a huge show," said artistic director George Green. "It's extremely entertaining with wonderfully fun dance and musical numbers."

"How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" includes music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert. It is based on Shepherd Mead's 1952 book.

It's the tale of a man named J. Pierrepont Finch who, with the help of the book "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," goes from being a window washer to chairman of the board of the World Wide Wicket Company.

"How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" runs May 25 to June 17 at the Lake City Playhouse. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sundays. The Playhouse is at 1320 E. Garden Ave. Info: 667-1323
