Ex-Hawk Leonard 40th in discus at NCAA West prelim meet
AUSTIN, Texas - Former Lakeland High standout Kristine Leonard completed her junior season of track and field at Idaho by finishing 40th in the women's discus throw with a toss of 147 feet, 1 inch on Friday at the NCAA West Preliminary meet at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
"Kristine and Kyle (Rothwell; who fouled out in the men's hammer throw) both had fantastic years and great conference championships for us," Idaho director of track and field/cross country Wayne Phipps said. "It takes a lot to get here, it's a very tough meet and then it's definitely a learning experience once you're here. I expect them to continue to improve for the future and not let it overshadow the seasons both of them had."
