MISSOULA - Suraj Kedia and Jake Gonzalas allowed four hits over seven innings as the Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen defeated the Glacier Twins of Kalispell, Mont., 4-1 in their season opener at the Dale Dahlgren Memorial American Legion baseball tournament on Saturday at Osprey Field.

"We had a lot of ground outs," Coeur d'Alene coach Lloyd Duman said. "Suraj had them put the ball in play a lot. It was a very nice outing for him getting through the first game."

Gonzalas struck out three of four batters he faced to get the save for Coeur d'Alene.

Colin Comack scored on a sacrifice fly and Grant Curtis had an RBI single in the fifth for Coeur d'Alene, which faces Helena today at 9 a.m. PDT, then Bozeman at 11:30, both at Maverick Field.

"For a first game, we played like it was a first game," Duman said. "I thought we played pretty well for having only three days' practice. We hit the ball hard, just right at some people and had some guys hit some shots with runners in scoring position that could have made it a different game."

Carl Talsma had two of Glacier's four hits.
