Genevieve M. Wolfe passed away May 6, 2012, ending a lengthy and happy life and leaving so many behind that love her. Genevieve was born in Clay, Iowa, on May 24, 1914, to Allan and Edith (Woodford) Meacham the oldest of three siblings, Dick Meacham and Lois Gray.

They grew up on their parent’s farm which Genevieve liked to recall with many fond memories. She graduated from Richland High School in 1932, went on to attend Washington School to obtain her teaching certificate. She taught grades one through 12 in a one-room classroom for a couple of years. Her immediate family relocated to the Seattle area in the 1930s to seek an area with more economic promise. There, she worked for the Hartford Insurance company.

In Seattle, Genevieve was involved in the Seattle Mountaineers where she met her future husband, Charles M. Wolfe. They were married in Seattle on June 14, 1941, and moved to Southern California due to Carl’s research career with a number of defense and aircraft companies. There they raised three children, Tom, Bill and Susan. Carl’s first son, John Wolfe, was like a son to Genevieve and his family considered as her own.

Genevieve was a long-time member of the Daughters of the American Revolution with membership with the Lt. George Farragut Chapter of the DAR.

She is survived by Tom and Pat Wolfe and his children, Dan Wolfe, Heather Wolfe and John Wolfe and their families; Bill and Valerie Wolfe and their children, Tammy Roberts and Molly Harris and their families; Susan and Steve Holm and their daughter, Emily Holm; and John and Shahin Wolfe and his children, Robert Wolfe and Julie Logan and their families.

Her family members wish to thank Coeur d’Alene Homes and Heritage Homes plus the many nurses, doctors and specialists that helped her these last couple of years.

Genevieve’s special stories and interests included:

• Riding her horse to school as a student and teacher.

• Her beautiful roses.

• Her ability to raise kids and work a small citrus and avocado grove at the same time.

• Her compassion for all people.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
