The 5-year-old boy injured when a moose collided with a car driven by his 14-year-old uncle has been upgraded to satisfactory condition after being in critical condition following the accident on Saturday, according to representatives at Sacred Heart Medical Center.
The 14-year-old driver, of Great Falls, Mont., posted to his pubic Facebook profile that the 5-year-old nephew fractured his skull in the accident. He also said the decapitated head of the moose broke through the passenger-side window of the 1993 Cadillac and landed on the lap of his mother in the passenger seat.
After the moose collision on Interstate 90, the driver of the car continued on to the Mission Inn in Cataldo where the police were called to the accident.
The driver didn't sustain injuries and four other passengers - two adult women, an adult male and another 5-year-old boy - were admitted and released from Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg.
The driver's home state of Montana allows teenagers to qualify for their drivers permit at 14-and-a-half if they are in a state-approved traffic education program.
