Meyer nets
Hall of Fame honors
Judy Meyer of Hayden received the Idaho Smart Women, Smart Money Hall of Fame award on Oct. 13 in Coeur d'Alene.
Meyer received the award during the Idaho Smart Women, Smart Money conference, a free financial literacy event geared toward women. The award recognizes "outstanding women in Idaho who exemplify a high degree of moral character, entrepreneurship, community involvement and leadership."
Meyer and her husband Steve are partners in Parkwood Business Properties, a commercial real estate development firm in Coeur d'Alene.
Solomon earns Professionalism Award
Attorney Sharon E. Anne Solomon of Coeur d'Alene has earned the Idaho State Bar's prestigious Professionalism Award. She was nominated for her work in family law, promoting respect for opposing parties and her commitment to the best interests of children.
Pro Bono Awards
given to four attorneys
Four Idaho attorneys have been awarded the Denise O'Donnell Day Pro Bono Award, which is the bar's highest honor for work done merely for the sake of justice. The following are this year's recipients:
Lindsey R. Simon, of Coeur d'Alene, is an associate at Lukins & Annis, P.S. and helped in the same case. She helped the father retain custody, even after a paternity test showed he may not be the biological father. The father prevailed, established legal paternity and kept the family together.
Muriel M. Burke-Love of Coeur d'Alene, a solo practitioner, earned a pro bono award for her work establishing custody in an unstable family environment. She said, "pro bono work isn't glamorous, but it is personally rewarding."
Martha T. Roletto, Coeur d'Alene, is a solo practitioner who volunteers at the Legal Aid Office and the St. Vincent DePaul Legal Link Advice and Consultation Clinic. A former teacher, she has shown a commitment to helping children and adults who have difficulty understanding legal proceedings.
Mischelle R. Fulgham of Spokane, is a principal and shareholder at Lukins & Annis, P.S., and helped a father who had raised his son maintain custody. The absent mother sued contending the child was not his.
These awards will be presented at the First District Bar Association Resolution Meeting at the Ameritel Inn, 333 Ironwood Ave. at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 7.
Edward Jones
supports Toys for Tots
The Coeur d'Alene, Hayden, Post Falls and Rathdrum area Edward Jones financial advisers are supporting the Pappy Boyington U.S. Marine Toys for Tots program by using their offices as drop-off locations for this year's toy drive.
Local residents may help needy children by bringing in a new, unwrapped toy to any participating Edward Jones area office during regular business hours starting Nov. 1.
"With the holiday season around the corner, we are all getting ready for the festivities," local financial advisor Peter Fitzmyers said. "And as this is the season of giving, now is a great time to remember the less fortunate in our community."
Resort receives
Reader's Choice Award
Conde Nast Traveler has built a considerable reputation on profiling the world's finest travel destinations.
They do this by asking the best-traveled experts they know... their readers.
Those readers continue to praise The Coeur d'Alene Resort, which has again landed in Conde Nast's coveted Reader's Choice Awards.
The magazine's November issue names The Resort in its "Top 40 Resorts in the West."
"A nicely balanced resort with eight different places to drink and dine. We liked lunches overlooking the world-famous Floating Green on the lake," wrote reader Ken Boris of Colorado.
The Coeur d'Alene Resort was thoroughly remodeled recently to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
