Eastbound I-90 to be reduced to one lane

Motorists on eastbound Interstate 90 near the Washington-Idaho state line should expect delays today as the highway will be reduced to one lane from the border to Pleasantview Road in Post Falls.
The lane closure is due to construction of the Beck Road interchange project, expected to finish around Thanksgiving.
"The lane closure will last a full day, including morning and evening commutes," according to the Idaho Transportation Department.
Electronic signs will warn motorists of the delay.
The contractor will pave the ramps at the new interchange. The activity is weather-dependent and clear weather is predicted for today.
The speed limit on I-90 in that area has been temporarily reduced to 55 mph.
Reducing and maintaining a consistent speed will help provide a safer work zone for drivers and workers, according to transportation officials. The speed reduction will be in place until the project is completed.
Meanwhile, a new traffic signal at U.S. 95 and Wyoming Avenue in Hayden is scheduled to begin full operation Monday.
The signal has been in flashing mode for two weeks while technicians tested the signal heads and other hardware.
The signal is intended to increase traffic safety at the intersection.
In addition to the changes at Wyoming Avenue, motorists no longer will be able to turn left onto U.S. 95 from Lacey Avenue or proceed through the intersection from Lacey. Right turns from U.S. 95 onto Lacey will be permitted, as will right turns from Lacey onto U.S. 95.
The contractor for the $1.1 million signalization project is Interstate Concrete and Asphalt of Coeur d'Alene.
