Alice Louise (Castleberry) Wolfinger, 73, passed away Nov. 2, 2012, from congestive heart failure at the Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene.

Alice was born on Dec. 29, 1938, in Wallace to Earl and Alice Castleberry. After graduating from Wallace High School in 1957, she married B. Dean Wolfinger. They made their home in the Wallace and Osburn areas until Dean passed away in 1997.

Alice worked a variety of jobs including at the Providence Hospital in Wallace, the Shoshone County Prosecutor’s Office, a school bus driver, and as one of the first women underground miners at the Lucky Friday Mine in Mullan.

Alice volunteered in Shoshone County as an EMT, as a Sheriff’s Office Posse Member and with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Auxiliary. She was a lifetime member of the Osburn Community Baptist Church where she was the organist for more than 20 years.

Alice was a loving mother of four, grandmother of six and would be the great-grandmother of one in December. She is survived by her children, Ben (Mary) Wolfinger of Coeur d’Alene, Diane (Joe) Drobnock of Coeur d’Alene, Mike Wolfinger of Port Orchard, Wash., and Sally (Tom) Reynolds of Coeur d’Alene; six grandchildren; as well as a large number of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends throughout the world.

Alice loved to travel and has spent time in Europe and Australia. She also loved to knit and was well known for her baby sweaters and Christmas stockings.

At Alice’s request, no funeral will be held, but an open house party celebrating her life will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at the Lake City Center, 1916 Lakewood Drive, Coeur d’Alene.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Auxiliary or Hospice House.

English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, has been entrusted to handle the final arrangements. Please visit Alice’s online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
