Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Sowinski, 81, of Hayden, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Kootenai Medical Center. Betty was born Oct. 29, 1931, in Rochester, N.Y., to Floryan and Susan (Sudimak) Sowinski.

Betty was a person who loved many things, but most importantly, loved her family and her lifelong partner of 53 years, Irene Roehling. She was very accomplished in her line of work as a registered nurse for more than 35 years. She was the Head ER Nurse in many California hospitals and also served as the Administrator for the Motion Pictures Hospital in California. Betty loved her job, because she loved people and the opportunity to serve them. Everyone who met Betty, loved her.

She loved the outdoors and every opportunity to camp, fish or just relax in the beauty God created. Traveling the world will be memories that she will be able to cherish forever.

Betty is survived by her life partner, Irene Roehling; and two brothers, Larry and Kay Sowinski, and Florian and Irene Sowinski.

Bell Tower Funeral Home, Post Falls, is in care of the arrangements. Donations are asked to be made to the Kootenai Humane Society.
