More than just a taxi service

OK, folks. It's nudging near holiday time with its celebrations. To help curb potential DUIs, Coeur d'Alene Taxi is emphasizing its services from its new location at 2307 N. Fourth St.
This includes local rides for $5, to Post Falls and Hayden for $10 and Spokane Airport for $40. They also have a car-and-driver service when they send two drivers, one for the taxi and one for your car. They also have a 35-foot, 20-passenger Cadillac limousine.
"We want to help lower Idaho's high DUI rate," said owner Blaine Svetich, who came here in 2008 from Missoula. He has five years of taxi experience, and the business has eight vehicles and 12 drivers.

- A "gauntlet" is a protective glove as in "throw down the gauntlet" in a challenge. A "gantlet" is a railroad track convergence.
- A photo of downtown Coeur d'Alene is in the index and in a 13-page feature about Idaho in the new issue of Delta Airline's "Sky" magazine.
