COEUR d'ALENE - Yes, that's snow, but don't forget about the remnants of fall.

Coeur d'Alene's leaf pickup program begins Tuesday, so residents should rake their leaves into the streets if they haven't already before the annual pickup sweeps away.

Once they shovel of course.

Despite the snow, there are no plans to delay the pickup, and crews will start picking up leaves at 7 a.m. south of Sherman Avenue. They'll move north from there, but won't be able to provide precise schedule of neighborhood pickups due to weather conditions, equipment malfunctions, unforeseen circumstances and the like.

Good news though, the street department updates its progress on a recording available by calling 769-2233 or you can follow street crew progress on a map posted on www.cdaid.org, under the street department.

They'll try to let people know which neighborhoods are next on the list on the web page, said Tim Martin, street superintendent.

Some helpful hints to make the whole things go smoothly.

- Rake leaves and pine needles about one foot away from the gutter or curb line to allow for water drainage

- Don't include bagged leaves, branches, debris, or trash

- If possible, try to keep cars off of the street when the pick up trucks come rolling through

Leaves will be picked up only once, so don't put leaves in the street after crews have completed the area.

It should be completed by Dec. 1.
