A Troy man was killed in a car crash on Highway 56 on Sunday night when his car rolled over several times after leaving the road.

Billy Don Norman, 29, was driving his 2007 Dodge Caliber northbound when, at approximately 8:10 p.m., he veered into the southbound lane of traffic and into the ditch at mile post 26.5.

Norman’s car rolled several times, ejecting him from the vehicle, where he died of his injuries. Norman was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula will determine whether Norman had any intoxicants in his system, as is routine for all fatal crashes.

At this point, the cause of the crash is consistent with a driver swerving around an animal in the road. The road was bare and dry at the time of the crash.

There were no witnesses or other individuals harmed. Montana State Trooper Joel Sieler out of Eureka is still investigating the crash.
