Betty Jean (Williams) Lavigne, 79

Betty Jean (Williams) Lavigne, 79, passed away Nov. 10, 2012, after fighting Alzheimer’s disease for 11 years. She passed away at the Beehive/Regency Pacific in Pinehurst, where she had resided for the past six years. Betty was born on Feb. 23, 1933, in Wardner. She was the daughter of Watkin and Irene (Hulbert) Williams.

Betty attended and had served as Salutatorian of the Kellogg High School graduating class of 1950. She furthered her education at the University of Idaho.

Betty had worked at the Bunker Hill Mining Company when she was introduced to Louie Lavigne by Rachel Biotti, Louie’s cousin. Betty and Lewis Joseph Lavigne were married on May 16, 1952, at the Federated Church in uptown Kellogg, the precursor to the United Church of Kellogg. Betty and Louie were married for 55 years, before his passing in 2007. Betty had served as secretary for the Federated Church and had also worked in their thrift shop.

Betty worked as a bookkeeper for many years for the Osburn Drug Corporation which Louie co-owned with his brother. She then became involved in antiques and had a thriving business with her daughter Linda called Mountain Memory Antiques. Betty had impeccable taste for clothes, jewelry, furniture and of course antiques.

Betty was a member of the United Church of Kellogg and was very active in their Plymouth Circle. She was also a member and president of the Silver Valley Sweet Adeline’s. Betty loved to travel to Wales, Mexico/Caribbean and Alaska. She enjoyed many trips to Mexico with Laurie and also trips to Alaska to visit Connie and her family and Laurie…and fun filled adventures with her friends, Hazel Snyder, Mike Williams and Barb Gaylord.

Betty is survived by three daughters and their families: Linda (John) Daley of Cataldo, Ben Nichole, Connor and Brooklyn Daley, Zac and Carter Daley; Connie (Michael) Williams of Medford, Ore., Michael and Lindsay Williams, Chelsea and Joe Flack; and Laurie Lavigne and Brett Crall of Eagle River, Alaska.

We wish to thank all of the wonderful caregivers Mother had over the years. She was well taken care of and the love and support shown to Mother and our family shall never be forgotten; our grateful thanks to each of you.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at the Mountain View Congregational Church of Kellogg (formerly the United Church of Kellogg). A reception will be held at the church following services. A visitation/viewing will be held from 2-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel. Everyone is welcome. Interment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg.
