Mary Ellen Flanigan, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 10, 2012. She was born Sept. 24, 1936, in Ione, Wash., to Eleanor and Leroy Ray.

She met the love of her life, Jim, in third grade at St. Anne’s Catholic School. They were married for 58 wonderful years.

She is survived by her husband, at home, and their kids: son Dan (Karen) Flanigan; daughters, Kate (Don) Ely, Colleen (Glen) Akins, Maureen (Glen) Carey, Jamie Howe and Mary Ellen Peterson; plus 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 612 W. First St., Newport, Wash., with the rosary preceding at 10:15 a.m.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in her honor to Catholic Charities, P.O. Box 2253, Spokane, WA 99210-2253.
