Spokane to host men's NCAA tourney games in '14
For the first time since 2010, and the fourth time overall, the Spokane Arena will play host to early round games in the NCAA men's basketball tournament in 2014.
Second- and third-round games are currently scheduled to take place Thursday, March 20 and Saturday, March 22.
Spokane also hosted the NCAA first and second rounds in 2003, '07 and '10.
Seattle was named to host second- and third-round games in 2015 at Key Arena. Seattle hasn't hosted NCAA men's games since 2004.
Other second- and third-round sites in 2014 will be Buffalo, N.Y.; Milwaukee; Orlando, Fla.; Raleigh, N.C.; San Antonio; San Diego; and St. Louis. The Final Four will be played at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Madison Square Garden in New York will host the East Regional in 2014, the first time the arena has hosted games in 53 years. The Garden hosted 71 NCAA tourney games from 1943-61. The other regional sites in 2014 will be Anaheim, Calif., Indianapolis and Memphis, Tenn.
The 2014 Final Four will be played at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Cleveland, Houston, Los Angeles and Syracuse, N.Y., will be the NCAA regional sites in 2015. Other second and third-round sites in 2015 are Charlotte, N.C.; Columbus, Ohio; Jacksonville, Fla.; Louisville, Ky.; Omaha, Neb.; Pittsburgh, and Portland, Ore. The Final Four will be held in Indianapolis.
First-round games will continue to be played in Dayton, Ohio, both years.
Kroc Lake City prevails at Pumpkin Power meet
Eleven Kroc Lake City Masters swimmers competed at the eight-team Pumpkin Power meet in Sandpoint on Saturday.
Inland Northwest records were set by Gloria Waggoner in the 50-yard backstroke and 50 breaststroke, Mike Hamm in the 200 butterfly and the 200 freestyle relay team of Cindy Clutter, Gloria Waggoner, Margaret Hair and Deidre Ater.
Other finishers include: Noelle Adams, first in 50 backstroke, 100 backstroke, 200 butterfly and third in the 50 butterfly; Deidre Ater, first in the 50 freestyle, 100 free, 50 breast, 100 individual medley and second in the 50 fly; Cindy Clutter, first in the 50 free, 100 free, 800 free, 50 breast and 200 fly; Todd Cory, first in the 50 free, 100 free, 50 breast and 200 fly; Margaret Hair, first in 800 free, 50 breast, 200 breast, 50 fly and 200 fly; Mike Hamm, first in 50 breast, 100 breast, 200 breast, 200 fly and 100 IM; Brady Hooper, first in 50 free, 50 breast, second in 100 breast, 200 fly and fourth in the 100 free; Steve Tanner, first in the 100 free, 800 free, 200 back, 200 fly and second in the 50 breast; Rob Urbaniak, first in the 50 fly, third in the 50 free, 100 free and 50 breast; Bill Waggoner, first in 50 free, 100 free and 200 free, and Gloria Waggoner, first in the 50 back, 50 breast and 100 IM.
Relay wins included the 200 free women, 200 free men, 200 medley women, 200 medley men and 400 free mixed.
The next competition will be held in January in Wenatchee, Wash.
Shock to open on road in 2013 AFL season
SPOKANE - The Arena Football League released its season schedule and the Spokane Shock will open the 2013 season with a three-game road trip before returning to Spokane Arena for an April 12 matchup with the Arena Bowl champion Arizona Rattlers.
They conclude the season with home games against San Antonio (July 19) and Pittsburgh on July 26.

CBS Sports Network signs deal to broadcast Arena Football
CHICAGO - The CBS Sports Network and the Arena Football League announced a two-year agreement that makes the network the national television partner of the league.
They will feature 19 regular season games throughout the 2013 season, as well as two playoff games and ArenaBowl XXVI on Aug. 17.
As part of the deal, CBS Sports Network will televise the Saturday night Game of the Week in prime time and kicks off on March 23, 2013.
The television schedule will be released at a later date.
