During a recent one-hour lunch meeting, Rotarians raised $1,280 to feed less fortunate children in the community.
The "Backpacks for Kids" program through the Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls school districts provides children with packs filled with food to get them through the weekend.
"The backpack program makes a huge difference in the lives of children who receive the food for the weekend," said Hazel Bauman, Rotarian and Coeur d'Alene School District superintendent.
The Coeur d'Alene Rotary, Post Falls Rotary, Sunrise Rotary of Coeur d'Alene, and the Coeur d'Alene Thursday Night Rotary met in September at the Hagadone Event Center. Rotarians were joined by Rotary District Gov. Michelle Lee and shared lunch and festivities as they came together with a common cause.
The four Rotaries focused on a community need, and "went after it with their usual determination of service before self," according to a press release.
"Once again the evidence shows the fabulous partnership between the community and our schools," Bauman said.
