Marjorie June (Adams) Dempsey, 90, passed away Nov. 15, 2012, at The Living Center in Stevensville, Mont. She was born June 23, 1922, in rural, Shelby, Mont., to Edwin and Elsie Adams and was one of 11 children.

She grew up during the 1929 depression era and attended school through her junior year in Shelby. On Aug. 21, 1939, in Townsend, Mont., she married Laurence Aeldred Dempsey and always told everyone, “I sure married the right man!” They lived in many towns in western Montana where Laurence worked in the mines in Butte, ranches near Drummond, logging near Rimini, Stryker, Troy and Whitefish, Mont., and Tekoa and Opportunity, Wash., working on a water canal.

She enjoyed music, cooking, sewing and was an artist and enjoyed crafting and instilled that love in each one of their five children. Her greatest accomplishment was encouraging them to do their best in everything they did and all of them have done that.

In 1954 June and Laurence moved south of Coeur d’Alene to a 160-acre farm where she won blue ribbons for designing and building displays at the Kootenai County Fair. In 1964 they moved to Grants Pass, Ore., where they owned and operated “Dempsey truck Parts and Repair” and “Junebug,” her nickname, she won awards for her bowling skills. In 1989 they retired in Hayden in her dream home. In 2002 they moved to Victor, Mont. When Laurence passed on Jan. 25, 2006, she moved to The Living Center in Stevensville where she enjoyed her retirement writing to family and friends and playing bingo. She will be missed by all.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Kathy Adams of Anaconda, Mont.; her sister, Shirley Davis of Shelby; sister-in-law and husband, Helen and Jon Bourget of Shingletown, Calif.; sister-in-law Fern Dempsey of Tacoma, Wash.; brother-in-law Kenny and Shirley Dempsey of Okanogan, Wash.; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Barbara Dempsey of Snohomish, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law, Leona and Russell Geldrich of Golden Valley, Ariz.; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Judy Dempsey of Stevensville; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Merle Baker of Victor, Mont.; and daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Michael Simmons of Everett, Wash. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces and their families.

“Junebug” was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Elsie Adams of Shelby; her brothers, John Adams; and her sisters, Eva, Marzella, Viola, Anita, Alta and Gloria. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence Aeldred Dempsey of Montana.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel. Internment will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens, 7315 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene.
