LIBERTY LAKE - Brock Banta (125), Jeremy Golding (149) and V.J. Giulio (197) of North Idaho College each won titles at the Spokane Open wrestling tournament Sunday at the HUB Sports Center.
"Banta looked really good," NIC coach Pat Whitcomb said. "He missed last week with the flu, and he dominated the Boise State kid in the finals. It was nice to see him bounce back after last week."
Golding beat teammate Kyle Godihno in the finals. Former Post Falls High standout Tyler Booth, a redshirt wrestling unattached, finished third.
Giulio was also wrestling unattached.
"It was a good day," Whitcomb said. "I was happy with how deep we placed."
Nicholas Moreno (157), Kyle Sweedman (174), Bryan Smith (285) and Brandon Matlock (133, unattached) each placed third for NIC. Caleb Rivera (184) tweaked a knee early in the tournament and was pulled out as a precaution, Whitcomb said.
NIC returns to action Dec. 1-2 at the Las Vegas Invitational.
