SOAP LAKE - Police arrested a Soap Lake man Friday afternoon after he barricaded himself into a mobile home for more than an hour.
Peter Ivan Flores, 20, was arrested at the 19000 block of Grant Street Northwest in Lakeview Park. He was booked for second-degree robbery, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), unlawful imprisonment and obstructing justice, according to a Soap Lake police report.
The incident began after officers received a domestic violence call at 12:45 p.m. at the 100 block of Fifth Avenue Southeast. Soap Lake Police Chief Glenn Quantz said officers determined Flores allegedly assaulted a female acquaintance and reportedly took a check from her by force. A second victim was also reportedly assaulted at the home. Flores fled the scene by the time officers arrived.
A Lakeview Park man later reported a suspicious vehicle parked in an alley behind his home, which police determined as the suspect vehicle.
Flores, along with other occupants of the home, refused to allow officers into the residence. After a standoff that lasted more than an hour, police were eventually able to gain access. Grant County sheriff's deputies assisted at the scene.
Quantz said the other occupants eventually realized they may be arrested as well for aiding Flores and starting asking him to cooperate. No other arrests were made.
Flores was booked into Grant County Jail without further incident.
"Within a very short amount of time, basically, we were able to locate the subject," Quantz said. "The whole ordeal lasted only two hours or so from the initial call."
