SANDPOINT — Sandpoint got an up close and personal look at one of the best teams in the state, if not the Northwest, as the Bulldogs lost 76-22 to the Vikings in nonleague girls basketball Tuesday night at Les Rogers Court.

Madison Sumner scored 16 points on 6-7 shooting and nabbed four steals to lead the Vikings (3-0).

“They are exceedingly quick and extremely good ball handlers,” said Bulldogs head coach Bill Bender of the Vikings, noting his team learned a valuable lesson in defeat. “You have to believe, and tonight we doubted. When it went bad, lots of us tried to put it on our shoulders, and we need to do it collectively.”

Hailey Olin led the Bulldogs (1-3) with eight points and three rebounds, while Madi Shoening and Jordan Speelmon each added four points.

Sandpoint is at Priest River on Tuesday.
