Sports kick-off

The Columbia Falls Booster Club will hold its Winter Sports Kickoff in the Columbia Falls High School cafeteria on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 6:30 p.m. All high school winter sports participants, coaches and parents are invited to attend. A free spaghetti dinner will be provided by the Booster Club while coaches introduce their teams and discuss their season. Athletic director Troy Bowman will also hold a brief parents meeting.

All conference

Columbia Falls High School senior Hope Burlage was recently named second team all-conference in volleyball. Teammate Haley Belgarde was honorable mention all-conference.

A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
