Lillian Marie (Holzer) Boughton having lived a long and happy, busy life for 98-plus years died Nov. 24, 2012, at Coeur d’Alene Homes where she resided for the past three years. She was born April 27, 1914, in St. Ignatius, Mont., to Fred and Elin (Anderssen) Holzer.

She attended school there with three brothers. When she was 14 years old the family moved to Hayden Lake. She attended her first two years of high school at the Hayden Lake School and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1932. She married Robert “Bob” Boughton in 1936 and they raised their four children in Coeur d’Alene.

Lillian was proud to be a stay-at-home mom. She and Bob were always leading and supporting kids’ activities including sports and music, scouting, campfire girls and teaching Sunday school. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church for more than 60 years. She volunteered for many years at Coeur d’Alene Homes and Thrift Store. Lillian was also involved in the Coeur d’Alene Mother’s Club, a mom’s sewing club, and enjoyed playing golf and bridge. When the kids were raised she began working outside the home, beginning with a partnership business, The Fashionette, and in 1973 she and Bob opened the Clothes Line Women’s Apparel in Hayden Lake.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, in 1984; her daughter, Jeanne Bemis, in 2011; and her brothers and their spouses. Lillian’s family who loved and will always cherish her include Bob and Chris Boughton, Barbara and Dale Dennis, Beverly and Mike Perry, Brice Bemis, 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
