PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Lake City clamps down on Moscow at Bear Den

MOSCOW - Amber Hawkes scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Lake City Timberwolves past the Moscow Bears 51-33 on Tuesday night in a nonleague game at Bear Den.
"Defensively, I thought we played great," Lake City coach Bryan Kelly said. "They really came to play."
Madi Farrell scored 10 points and Hailey Jackson had nine points and nine assists for Lake City (4-0), which hosts Post Falls in a 5A Inland Empire League game on Thursday.
"Both Madi and Amber did an excellent job down low and they did a great job finishing," Kelly said. "Hailey did a great job of taking care of the ball and getting us into what we needed to do on offense."
Kylie Gorton scored 10 points for Moscow.

COEUR d'ALENE - Kayli Matheson scored 10 points to lead the Viking junior varsity (3-0) past the Lumberjacks at Elmer Jordan Court.
"We were a little bigger than St. Maries, so we tried to push the ball into (Kayli) Matheson and she did a nice job of putting the ball in," Coeur d'Alene JV coach Dan Higbie said. "St. Maries outrebounded us and did a nice job there."
Lakin Anxo scored five points for St. Maries (1-4), which travels to Coeur d'Alene Charter on Dec. 6 to open Central Idaho League play.

BONNERS FERRY - Lexi Turkenburg scored a game-high 15 points for the Panthers in a nonleague loss to the Badgers.
The game, originally scheduled for Holy Family Catholic School, was moved to Bonners Ferry for administrative purposes.
"There guards were very quick and did a good job of disrupting our offense," Cd'A Charter coach Doug Grant said. "It was tough to step up and play a 3A school to start the season, but it was good for us."
Jackie Jensen had 11 rebounds for Coeur d'Alene Charter (0-1), which hosts Kootenai on Thursday at Holy Family Catholic School.
