Virgil (Bob) Robert Brown was born Dec. 21, 1927, in Wanblee, S.D., and passed away Nov. 19, 2012, in Post Falls.

When Bob was 7, his parents piled nine members of the family into a 1929 Buick and moved to Kootenai where his dad was employed by the C.C.C. Bob attended school in Kootenai and Sandpoint until he joined the Army in March 1946. After his honorable discharge in April 1947, he traveled to Warm Springs, Ore., to spend the winter and work for Warm Springs Lumber Company. It was in Warm Springs where Bob met the love of his life, Yvonne Parr, and this love affair lasted the rest of his life. Yvonne and Bob were married July 7, 1949, in Lewiston and made their home in Warm Springs. They were blessed with three children, Terry Lynn, Steven Dale and Karen Ann. The flood of 1963 forced them to move to higher ground, so Madras, Ore., became home.

For more than 20 years, Bob worked as the head sawyer, and later became the operations manager for Warm Springs Forest Products. Bob worked for the company for 45 years. While in Madras, Bob had many hobbies; some of which were woodworking, hunting, fishing and gardening, but his passion was golf. Bob won many golf tournaments, and loved sharing his knowledge and passion for the game. After Bob retired, Yvonne and Bob decided to move to Post Falls, which allowed them to be closer to family. Soon after arriving in Post Falls, Bob became the neighborhood handyman. Yvonne and Bob spent many weekends camping, fishing and playing cards with family and friends. Family was always important to Bob and he was quick to brag about the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.

His wife, Yvonne of Post Falls; daughter Terry Reed and husband Ashley of Anchorage, Alaska; son Steve Brown and wife Tia of Juneau, Alaska; brothers, Lyle Brown of Lewiston, and Darrell Brown, his wife, Ellena of Sandpoint; and sister-in-law Dorothy Brown of Thompson Falls, Mont., survive Bob. Grandchildren Zachary Brown of Marysville, Wash., Darby Brown of Juneau, Truman Reed of Anchorage; and great-grandchildren, Miles and Tatum Brown of Marysville, also survive him; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His infant daughter Karen Ann, preceded him in death, as well as his parents, Virgil and Rosetta Brown; brothers, Dale, Elmer, Dewayne, William and Levi; and sisters, Lillian, Irene, Margaret, Marion and Gladys.

At Bob’s request, no memorial services will be conducted.
