Gene C. Compton, 84, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, (on his Father’s Birthday). He was born July 31, 1928, in Potlatch to Earl and Ina Mae Compton.

Gene married his childhood sweetheart Phyllis Coffman on Nov. 15, 1947, and had two daughters. His creativity and love of people presented many different paths and opportunities for them to travel, meet many friends and engage in many different activities. He never met a stranger. His smile and good heart is what most will remember.

He is survived by a brother, Bob Compton; daughters, Jerry Wright and her husband Bob, and Gloria Peterson and her husband Eric; grandchildren, Deborah Sylvester and her husband Nathan, and Andrea Hassenpflug and her husband Doug; and great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Tyler Sylvester, and Austin, Brandon, Caleb and Devin Hassenpflug.

Donations are being accepted to Hospice House of North Idaho, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at St. Pius X Parish, 625 E. Haycraft, Coeur d’Alene, with a reception following.
