There may not be much snow across the Silver Valley, but there's enough at Lookout Pass to break out the skis or snowboards and get on the slopes.

Lookout Pass had its opening day Sunday, and after receiving 2 inches of fresh snow Wednesday night, the ski slopes are expected to stay open.

Lookout Pass Owner Phil Edholm said opening day on Sunday went great and plenty of people made it up to the slopes to go down the hill for the first time in a while. He added the snow was "really good" for skiers and snowboarders.

The slopes were closed Monday through Wednesday but opened up Thursday, hopefully, for the season, Edholm said.

"We plan to stay open," Edholm said. "Unless there's some rain event that washes us out, we're going to keep rolling."

Christopher Barrett, marketing director at Lookout Pass, echoed the sentiments of Edholm.

"If we get some snow today and over the next few days, we'll be able to stay open past Sunday. If not, we'll have to wait for the next snow front to come through and bring us some snow," Barrett said Thursday.

Edholm was optimistic about Lookout's chances of staying open past Sunday. He also said the ski resort is glad to be back open for skiing and snowboarding.

"Things are looking good for us, and we are thrilled to be open," Edholm said.
